Skiing and snowmobiling in the Black Hills

Snowboarding in the Black Hills

With elevations ranging from 5,900 feet to over 7,000 feet, more snow can fall on Terry Peak than anywhere else in the region, making the Black Hills region a great place for a winter getaway. At Terry Peak Ski Area, downhill ski and snowboarding enthusiasts enjoy a vertical rise of 1,100 feet, 29 trails, one terrain park and three high speed quads.

For snowmobilers, the 1.2 million-acre Black Hills National Forest offers unlimited off-trail riding in addition to 350 miles of groomed, marked trails. Winter sports enthusiasts can also enjoy cross country skiing and wildlife viewing and even ice climbing the frozen waterfalls in Spearfish Canyon National Scenic by-way.

The Deadwood, Lead and Spearfish areas are great for winter stays thanks to their proximity to the trails and slopes. Our Black Hills Communities offer great lodging and restaurant options, and Deadwood also offers excellent Après-ski in the casinos, saloons and concert venues.
