Custer State Park is located in the southern Black Hills of South Dakota and is considered one of the top 10 Wildlife Destinations in the World. This sprawling 71,000 acre park is best known for its herd of 1300 roaming buffalo.  It’s also home to elk, pronghorns, mule and white-tailed deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, mountain lions and burros. Wildlife can easily be seen along the popular Wildlife Loop drive and Iron Mountain Road.  Custer State Park boasts four mountain lakes and a variety of hiking, biking and walking trails. The park is also known for its scenic drives along the pig tail bridges and the needles highway. Custer State Park offers a variety of history and naturalist programs, as well as adventures like horseback riding, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking and fly-fishing. Not to be missed is their new visitor center and 20 minute movie that plays every half hour.
