Calendar of Events

Communities in our Black Hills celebrate events as unique as the community itself, from Gold Discovery Days in Custer to the Film Festival in Hill City to Neutrino Days in Lead. Free outdoor summer concerts are held weekly in Rapid City, Spearfish and Belle Fourche.

Rodeos have a remarkable history in western South Dakota. Top rodeos in the Black Hills include the Day's of '76 Rodeo in Deadwood, the Black Hills Roundup in Belle held over the Fourth of July weekend, the Crazy Horse Stampede at Crazy Horse, the Mt Rushmore Rodeo at Palmer Gulch and the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo in Rapid City.

A bucket list event is the Crazy Horse Volksmarch when visitors get to walk to the top of Crazy Horse Memorial. Add to your Black Hills experience and plan your trip around one of our great events.


Mount Rushmore Rodeo at Palmer Gulch - Hill City

Ride 'em cowboy and cowgirl! Have a wild west good time at the Mount Rushmore Rodeo at Palmer Gulch June 8 and 22, August 8 and 17 and September 1, 2019. All Rodeos run from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Deadwood Jam

The Annual Deadwood Jam will see major changes in 2019. In Celebration of the event's move to Historic Mainstreet, the Jam will be free to all. The 29th Annual Deadwood Jam will kick off on Thursday, September 12, 2019 with the annual Art and Jam Auction fundraiser at Jacob’s Art Gallery on Main Street, followed on Friday and Saturday with free music on main. Bands include Frogleg, Uawpers, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Leftover Salmon, Melvin Seals and more. Keep watching for updates!

Custer State Park Buffalo Round & up Arts Festival

Feel the thunder at the annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup on Friday, September 27. Watch cowboys, cowgirls and park rangers as they roundup and drive the herd of approximately 1,300 buffalo. On Friday, parking lots open at 6:15 a.m; The Roundup begins at 9:30 a.m. Early arrival is recommended. Stay for the the three-day Arts Festival, September 26-28. Over 150 vendors will be offering their arts and crafts for sale. Most of the arts and crafts are South Dakota Made!

Wild West Song Writers Fest 2019

It's country, pop, rock and even "Rockabilly," the Wild West Songwriters Festival is one of the most unique of its kind and set in one of America's most historic landmarks. Hosted along Main Street Deadwood and inside The Deadwood Mountain Grand, hit songwriters will gather together for three full days of performances, panels and parties.
