South Dakota is Open for Business!

When it is right for you, our Great Faces and Great Places of South Dakota are ready to welcome you.  Our team is here to help you plan an awesome vacation!

South Dakota does not have any travel restrictions in place for visitors.  Our tourism businesses and attractions, national and state parks, hotels, motels, campgrounds, restaurants, retailers, and towns are open for business.

We continue to prioritize safety by following CDC guidelines. If you have questions about COVID-19 in South Dakota, please visit or the South Dakota Department of Tourism.

  • Note some trip routes through tribal lands may be closed and alternatives needed. Check or call 5-1-1 for up-to-date road information. In addition, we have created a document with access to maps of documented tribal checkpoints and visitor information. The number of checkpoint locations may change at any time.

South Dakota’s Governor Kristi Noem’s message is the same today as it was when she announced her Back to Normal Plan on April 28, 2020:  Use common sense, practice social distancing, handwashing, & STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK.  The Governor has encouraged the mayors of each community to make decisions that best fit their community.

The mayors continue to encourage businesses to provide a safe environment for employees and guests alike. Go to #MaskUpSoDak. Public facilities across the state continue to require masks in their buildings.

“In challenging times, everyone has a role.  Some roles are complex, and some roles are simple.  If we all do our part, we can get through this together,” Mayor Dave Ruth, Deadwood.

Need help? We are here for you seven days a week. Our number one priority is to help you with your travel plans. Who knows, you might even want to stay longer!
