Plan Your Visit to South Dakota’s Black Hills

Black Hills Vacations can help you find trip ideas and book vacation packages in the Black Hills based on your interests, travel party and budget. Explore one of the largest concentrations of public and national parks in the region—from massive granite faces of Mount Rushmore to the roaming buffalo of Custer State Park—or get wild in historic Deadwood. Our local travel experts can help you get inspired. For your convenience, we also offer Black Hills Vacation Gift Certificates.

Planning is Simple

Make your
Bucket List

You’ve never wanted to do so much in one vacation destination. Start getting inspired by listing your top sights or get ideas with trip itineraries.

Pick your
Travel Dates

There’s no bad time to visit the Black Hills, but hotels do fill up fast during peak travel in the summer. Due to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, July through mid-August is typically the busiest time of the year. In the winter, the best powder falls December through March.

Consider your Transportation

The Black Hills are central for road tripping or air travel with direct flights through the Rapid City Regional Airport. You may also want to consider a rental car so you can enjoy scenic drives through Custer State Park or take the scenic route traveling from stop to stop.

Find Local Lodging

Choose an area of the Black Hills, Badlands or Wyoming communities for your vacation homebase. It’s helpful to list your must-do attractions first so you can pick a central spot, but everything north to south is still a convenient (and scenic) drive away.

Explore the Region

A Black Hills vacation is central to hundreds of scenic monuments, parks, restaurants and attractions. Start planning your trip by getting the lay of the land – literally. Browse Black Hills maps to pick your perfect vacation spot that’s central to everything you want to experience.
