Pioneer Auto Show and Prairie Town For a genuine slice of Americana, stop in Murdo and visit the Pioneer Auto Show and Prairie Town to take a nostalgic journey into the past. Established in 1954, and known as “The Big Variety Show”, this an unrivaled celebration of America’s romance with the automobile, and includes motorcycles, tractors, scooters, and bicycles portraying the history of 20th century America through their incredible evolutions. Most of these wheeled antiques have automated recordings for self-guided tours.

Prairie Town continues the adventure; offering visitors a rendezvous with the past via self-guided tours through early renditions of a Midwestern, turn of the century town, complete with railroad depot, bank, general store, gas station, church, school, camera shop, butcher shop, and more.

With over 42 buildings covering nearly 10 acres, this family owned attraction encompasses over 250 collectable vehicles, and also displays an eclectic array of vintage antiques. Inside and out, the buildings remain authentic, and true to their time, filled with memorabilia from yesteryear, and housing unique collections ranging from Zeitner rocks, gems, and fossils to nostalgic items like antique toys, music boxes, animation, dishes, and glassware.

Kids have the chance to participate in our hands on Treasure Hunt, and win a prize!

The Pioneer Auto Show and Prairie Town is a world-class roadside attraction, and also offers a Diner Restaurant and a Hallmark Gift Shop. This fascinating family experience brings in thousands of visitors a year.
