With a maze-like, underground chamber system, Wind Cave features the world's largest concentration of box work, a rare formation of thin calcite fins that resemble honeycombs. Above ground, Wind Cave National Park includes a wildlife sanctuary of 28,295 acres for antelope, bison, elk, prairie dogs and other creatures to roam. Here, the ponderosa pine forest meets the rolling prairie, one of the last remaining mixed grassland areas in existence.

We are open all year long (and have been for more than 30 years) with tours in the winter. The schedule is: mid-Oct - mid April Garden of Eden Tours are at 10:00, 1:00 and 3:00 ; early spring and late fall Garden of Eden Tours are atare at 9:30, 11:30, 1:30 and 3:30, late spring and early fall Natural Entrance Tours are at 9:00, 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 4:30. Garden of Eden (Tour Times Garden of Eden (Tour Times 9:30am, 11:30, 1:30pm, 3:30 - Sept. 24 -Dec. 31)-1/4 mile of trail, 150 stairs, approx 1 hr in length. Natural Entrance (Tours every hour 10:30am-4:30pm - April 30 - Sept 23rd)-1/2 mile of trail, 300 stairs, approximately 1-1/4 hr in length. Both tours are moderately strenuous, light jacket or sweater recommended and shoes are required.
